What Is The Plot of Doctor Who Season 14?
Now there are going to be a few missing pieces to take the puzzle that is Doctor Who Season 14 and one of the biggest missing pieces is the plot. The creators have been very secretive regarding the plot of the upcoming season, but we do know every episode will have a new adventure, some episodes will be two parts with crazier adventures. There will be a lot of villains, and we can expect some of the villains from the previous seasons to reprise their roles in Doctor Who Season 14.
Now, we’ll talk more about the 60th Anniversary special episodes in the next section, but Doctor Who Season 14 will take place right after that, and the events will follow, without any time skips. So we will definitely see a connection there before we are introduced to the new Doctor! The creators have also hinted that the new season will tackle some socio-political issues, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out in Doctor Who Season 14.
There will be only eight episodes in Doctor Who Season 14, along with the Christmas special, which is lesser than what the fans had expected but Russel T Davies told Doctor Who magazine, “Okay, that’s fewer episodes than the last full season. But give us time. We have plans, and that’s a promise!” and that’s more than enough consolation for the fans! Now, let’s move on to the more exciting part of Doctor Who Season 14 aka the cast.
The Cast of Doctor Who Season 14
Last season, Jodie Whittaker made history by becoming the first female Doctor in the history of the series, despite her role not being as successful compared to actors like Matt Smith or David Tennant. As for Doctor Who Season 14, we have none other than
Ncuti Gatwa, who will take over the role of the fifteenth Doctor. He will also be making history as the first black Doctor, and this was a long time coming. David Tennant, who has by far been the most popular Doctor in the franchise thinks Gatwa being cast is brilliant. He also said, “He’s a lovely, lovely man, and he’s full of beans, and he’s really talented. I mean, he’s like scary-talented. So I’m thrilled for every Doctor Who fans for what’s to come, and I include myself in that number.”
Before we move on to who Gatwa’s companion will be, let’s stay on the topic of David Tennant for a moment and the fact which has driven everyone Doctor Who fans crazy with excitement. David Tennant will be returning for three 60th anniversary specials around the same time and will be accompanied by his all-time favorite companion, Donna, aka Catherine Tate. Fans have time and again expressed just how much they wanted to see this duo back on their screens, and looks like their prayers have been answered!
Now, going back to Gatwa’s companion in Doctor Who Season 14, we have Millie Gibson, who will play the role of Ruby Sunday. If you’re familiar with the series, you know just how important a companion is, so we hope that Gibson and Gatwa have the perfect buddy chemistry in the upcoming season. She’s only 18 but has definitely made a name for herself, and will continue to do after the success of this series!
We’re certain there will be several other cast members throughout the season, but the focus will remain on Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson for the entirety of Doctor Who Season 14.
When and Where Can You Watch Doctor Who Season 14?
Right now, there is no confirmed date for the release of Doctor Who Season 14. However, the 60th Anniversary special episodes will release sometime in November 2023, which means that Doctor Who Season 14 should also be released around that time, and introduce the new Doctor. It is highly likely today the newer episodes will take place after the specials, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we don’t have to wait until 2024 to see Ncuti Gatwa in action. However, the good news is that filming has begun, which means we won’t have to wait for too long before we can watch Doctor Who Season 14. Hopefully in the next few months, we have more concrete information regarding the release date of the upcoming season.
Is There a Trailer for Doctor Who Season 14?
There isn’t a trailer for Doctor Who Season 14 yet, however, there is a teaser for the 60th Anniversary special which features David Tennant, and Catherine Tate and introduces Ncuti Gatwa! The teaser is pure chaos, but that sums up the whole franchise! You can also learn a little more about Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson because they have shown off their fun side here and hopefully we get to see more of this in the upcoming season as well. We can however expect a trailer closer to November 2023, but we’re certain it will be worth the wait.
